Everlasting notoriety [Oct. 26th, 2007|10:01 am]
I need to learn how to give CPR to dogs.

It appears that if you give mouth-to-mouth to a dog and save it's life,
you will forever be known as:

Your Name, who resucitated a dog using mouth-to-mouth.

I don't know that I want that title, but I think it's an easy one to come by.
That way, when I'm king, I can add it to the long string of accomplishments
that everyone has to recite when they address me. . .

Don't talk about fight club [Jul. 30th, 2007|09:46 am]
Howdy folks. As you all know, I try to be a clam about nascent projects until they are truly in the pipeline, even though I can hardly contain myself
most of the time. So my latest folly, for those not in the know, is a return to school. I'm going to study Broadcast Production. Of course, really it's all about making a living entertaining people. Or, put another way, it's about aligning my efforts to match my values and personal goals.

So, since it's out in the open on the Internets, I might as well make use of some mob wisdom. (or at least see what the mob wisdom says, even if I don't use it. This should be interesting.)

My question for LiveJournal:
I'm going to school for broadcast production. Do any LJ'ers have suggestions on where to go, what to do, and how to go about doing it?  I'm specifically looking for schools that are well respected in the industry, or opinions on how important it is to have a good school on a resume/CV.

First-hand knowledge appreciated, random opinions will be tolerated, incoherent babbling will be laughed at, Naysayers shall be scoffed at - and baleted.

What a weekend.

Mad DJ action, some time in the studio, no sleep, a bit of running. Tabu isn't as interesting without a large crowd. I forgot how much I like Finnigans (sp?).

Thanks go out everyone who came and made A's party a great time . Thanks for listening to me totally screw up a  DJ set.

I have a ton of stuff to do today. Mostly work and schoolwork. The interesting part is all of the out-proccessing I have to do. IRA, health insurance, library books. . .  I have quite a checklist. I also have to: return a scanner, mail an acceptance letter (and an unacceptably large check), pay bills, and finish my demo and upload it to myspace. I'm discovering that I can actually use some of the stuff I wrote a long time ago out of sheer boredom and frustration. Who knew? Actually, maybe I'll just put up a side page on Robot-Slave. By the way, make sure you're caught up on all five previous installments of comic goodness, since more will be coming this next week as I get a little free time to do more of them. Also, if/when I put up some ads, help me out by utilizing the services advertised therein. But only if you really love me.

Life is going to be truly interesting for a while. You know what - that's good. I hope it's interesting for a long while. I need to have a challenge set directly in front of me. I'm glad I'm putting one there. If all of this confuses the heck out you, don't worry too much about it.

This is a choose your own adventure post [Jul. 12th, 2007|09:21 am]
You come to a weekend. It is your birthday. Do you A) go to the Flying Monkey, then to an afterparty at your brewmeister friend's house on a rockin patio (turn to page 147), or do you B) go to a new club with a couple of friends DJ'ing, and some hot goth chicks doing a show, of some nature, almost guaranteed to be freaky? (turn to page 50).

J.M. ( Journal Master) :  please leave your fan-fic additions in the comments, thank you, that is all. Be aware that I am of course not in charge of actual reality, and hence cannot ensure that both options will actually be on the table. I only draw the map, and roll for initiative. . . Have I mixed enough geek metaphors yet?

Whew [Jul. 10th, 2007|09:28 am]
Last week is finally over (for now?).

OMG. You've heard the cliche, "crisis equals danger plus opportunity?"  Well, this has definitely been a crisis week.  You might grok when I say that I think I have acted correctly at a crux (if you're a Heinlein fan. . . ). I certainly hope that I have - but there's no telling about the future. Where will I put my energy next? Who knows. I have school-work and work-work, so today will be characteristically busy.

Where will our intrepid hero venture next? tune in next week, same Matt time, same Matt channel. . .

Ever Feel Tired? Read This [Jul. 3rd, 2007|10:34 am]
I found an excellent article on boosting your energy at WebMD.

I know that lots of you read other online information sources, and so you don't need me to collect information for you, but I found this article somewhat inspiring and enlightening.

I really hate the internet sometimes, though. These little bits of information cause so much anxiety. These articles always tell me things I should do, but don't. So I feel anxious, "I have to go do this now!".  You probably already know this stuff, but hey, it's good to reiterate.

Anyway, I thought it was great. I've had so many projects and so little energy lately, I may have to employ these techniques just to survive. . .

Current Affectations [Jul. 3rd, 2007|08:34 am]
Howdy folks.

I was going to write a poignant post as a fake farewell to LJ,  but I don't have the energy. Plus it was a bald-faced lie.

Anyway, I'm writing my daily observations over at www.robot-slave.com So, if you ever wanted to know how I felt about, say, Monkeys, or perhaps Ninjas, or Thugged-out Midgets,  I'm putting all that important stuff over there.

LiveJournal shall only be where I post about how my emo heart broke when I had to watch a cat end the tragic life of a sweetly warbling sparrow, because it reminded my of myself, and the time I was mauled by a gigantic housecat. Seriously, it was like twenty pounds. that f#cker was huge. But I digress.

Yes, I know that print is a craptacular medium for humor, which is why I draw a comic strip. I don't really have much to say on LiveJournal. Honestly, who really wants to peek inside my emotional life? Thar be dragons.

Besides music and craft news, I can't think of much to write here - and I'll still post about my comings, goings, and doings here. But of course, I think I will also launch another blog (or sign on with one as a team member, perhaps?) to write about the trials and tribulations of writing music that no one is ever going to hear in your bedroom with a computer screen slowly tanning your face. That sort of thing is big these days. At least I don't play WoW. . .

4th of july coming up, that's terrific.! And if you haven't heard, my parents have moved back to Birmingham from Austin. This marks the end of an era, and the return of the jedi, or the king, or to innocence, or something. . .  Anyway, I get to see em soon, this is good. But no more Austin City Limits, and this is ambiguously alright.

Talk to all of yall later, and if I'm supposed to give you a t-shirt, you _might_ be able to pick one up from me before the CrashBoomBang show this weekend, for which I am doing some foley sound. terrific. check it out guys and dolls, cause it's Snappy!
